Meet Marla (pictured here with her retired service dog Brie), a middle 1800doorbell age woman in need of your help. Sure, everyone needs help these days and everyone has their priorities tying up any spare funds. Before you consider whether 1800doorbell your hard earned money should help Marla, 1800doorbell I encourage you to take the next five minutes and read why National Seizure Disorders Foundation believes you will do the right thing in gifting a donation of any size to Marla s Miracle.
Marla developed severe, uncontrolled, and unpredictable seizures from traumatic brain injury several years ago incurred during severe spousal abuse. The trauma left her brain bruised 1800doorbell and swollen. The trauma also left her spirit broken. During her treatment to control seizures, Her body withstood all available seizure medications with little control of seizures and her seizures 1800doorbell were determined inoperable by reputable doctors because of the amount and area of the focal points of the seizures. She was left with two options, partner with a well-trained seizure service and balance canine or succumb to a life of fear, misery, pain, seclusion, and eventually death. Which would you choose for her?
She made the right choice for herself and partnered 1800doorbell with a seizure service dog, named Brie, Brie not only gave Marla a new sense of independence, she began to alert to seizures and became Marla s steadfast life-saving companion Marla s Miracle
After a few years as partners, Marla received some heartbreaking news from her partners vet. Brie was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis. This chronic disease is fatal and will eventually take the life of Brie. The vet recommended Marla find another seizure service dog in order to retire Brie so that Brie is able to relax, play, and enjoy her last months or years. Heartbroken and without direction, Marla was lost ..
Soon after, Marla good friend contacted National Seizure Disorders Foundation and we empathized with Marla s situation. The need to help a seizure survivor, a family living with seizures daily, and a dog in need of retiring due to chronic pancreatitis. National Seizure Disorders Foundation believes in treating the whole person, even the extensions of that person s life; in this case the family and the ailing service dog.
The need to find a trained seizure service dog soon is imperative. When I asked Marla why she felt anxious over the waiting time, she told me the story of her first seizure service dog, Hatrick (RIP 2000): I knew it was time to retire Hatrick. He was growing ill and his vet told me it was time to retire him. Before I could begin the process of finding another service dog, Hatrick came to me one day and drew his last breath at my feet. Devastated still by her first seizure service dog sudden passing, Marla is determined to have a trained seizure service dog before Brie gets too ill. Marla simply cannot go through that devastation again.
We now have created miracles, Marla s miracle and the miracle of helping an ailing dog and a homeless dog. NSDF is now working 1800doorbell with UGOODDOG of Kansas as they train a recent rescue mix-breed by the name of Bach, a Great Dane Pointer mix was rescued by Four Paws Rescue of Kansas and chosen as a seizure service dog in training by UGOODDOG. He quickly began picking up on seizures. As soon as Bach was noticed by the trainers of UGOODDOG, they knew he was special. He proved it by alerting to seizures before leaving the rescue compound. Now he is being trained to follow in the footsteps of seizure service dogs , Hatrick and Brie.
