Entertainment Weekend paddle from Mullum doorbells and chimes to Bruns
While the top paddlers were expected to complete the 10-kilometre river course in about 40 minutes, Mr King and Ms Hibbard, like most participants, were just happy to be out on the water and among the crowd enjoying a lazy Sunday.
Mr King and Ms Hibbard joined about 500 paddlers in the second annual Mullum to Bruns Paddle doorbells and chimes to raise money for the Brunswick Volunteer Marine Rescue, Brunswick Surf Club and the Brunswick Visitor doorbells and chimes Centre.
Last year’s winner of the open challenge, Kurt Tutt from Mullumbimby, took out the title again this year ahead of Jordan Clark and Hayden Clarke while Lynwen Birch won the women’s doorbells and chimes paddle followed by Amanda Rankin and Emily Field.
In the stand-up paddle race, Jake Jenson collected first prize in the men’s section doorbells and chimes with placings going to Dale Chapman and Mark Waldek, while Simone Horsfield won the women’s ahead of Sandra Rofe and Nicola Cross.
